Hero Indian Super League 2016’s very first derby of the this season takes place on Monday as FC Pune City set up Mumbai City FC at the Balewadi Stadium in Pune. Both Maharashtra Teams will likely be searching for a much-improved showing in Hero ISL 2016 as they seek to get rid of the unnecessary honour of being two of the three clubs never to have eligible for the semis.
Mumbai City FC is going to be trying to avoid a repeat of the result in their starting fixture previous season when they lost 3-1 to the Stallions in Pune. In fact, Mumbai City have never been decent beginners to the season as they too lost 3-0 to Atlético de Kolkata in Hero ISL 2014. FC Pune City, on the other hand, have not lost their starting game of the season obtaining beaten Mumbai last year and drawn 0-0 against Delhi Dynamos FC in their first Hero ISL 2014 game.
Head-to-head: The both teams have faced one another four times in a couple of seasons. FC Pune City have won double and Mumbai City FC once with the other game between these two Maharashtra clubs finishing in a 0-0 draw very last season. Mumbai’s only victory against Pune came in their first meeting when an Andre Moritz hat-trick helped Mumbai City FC to a 5-0 won at home.
