Atlético de Kolkata grabbed their very first victory win of the 2016 Hero Indian Super League by defeating Kerala Blasters FC 1-0 before 54,900 supporters at the Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Kochi. The game’s only goal were found in the 53rd minute after a Javi Lara shot from range deflected off Sandesh Jhingan and found its way into the back of the net.
Kolkata close take the lead in the fourth minute of the match after Iain Hume found space on the right flank and cut the ball back for an onrushing Helder Postiga. ATK’s marquee player aimed the cut-back goal-wards but Pratik Chaudhary produced a superb sliding tackle to deny him a clean shot on goal.
